Each of us has a set of beliefs about ourselves that we have come to accept and own.  This set of beliefs constitutes our Belief System (BS), and it is so powerful that is the foundation of what you experience in life.  Your belief system is multifaceted and covers just about anything and everything we experience.  You have beliefs about who you believe you are, money, politics, relationships, God, physical health, and success to name a few.

You have other beliefs that are a part of the collective consciousness / mass consciousness.  This collection of beliefs cover such things as work (the Protestant work ethic), about intolerance of “bad” behavior, patriotism, tradition, etc.  These types of beliefs control how we function in society and pressure us to conform to a norm.  There is the exhortation to defend a host of ideas such as honor, good name, mother, family, country, the faith and more.  Then there are pressures to be politically one way or another, to criticize secularism, conservatism or liberalism as evil, to stand up for what is right, and to stand on principle.

What Are Beliefs

Your beliefs are unconscious mental conclusions that we have taken as absolute truth, and they have tremendous power over the quality of your entire life.  Even if what you believe is true, false, painful, or not relevant to who you are now,  your beliefs cause you to perceive the world in a way that is unique to you, and assist in the creation of your individual reality.

A major part of your Belief System (BS) that affects your experiences in life is what you believe about money.  Although money is a necessary tool in our society, many people scorn at the mere mention of it.  Believe it or not, many people  prefer to discuss their sex lives rather than discuss the subject of money.  Other people believe that making or having an abundance of money is not a good thing.  How many times have you heard people say “Money isn’t everything” or “Money is the root of all evil”?  Well, for these people, they are right; at least for them.  Although, they truly believe these statements, most people never examine what they believe or why they believe it.

For centuries, most people believed that the Earth was flat, and you would fall off the edge if you traveled the end of it.  People were trapped.  As a result, they were stuck in a world that reached out only as far as they could see.  They were stuck not because that was all that they had available to them, but because that’s all they “believed” they had.  But it was an illusionary reality that  was created by their beliefs.

They firmly held on to this belief until one day Christopher Columbus proved them wrong by sailing around the world.  And in doing so, he opened up a whole new world of possibilities and opportunities for everyone.  As a result, the rest of the planet became available to them.

Your Belief System (B.S.) is a funny creature in that it is not necessarily based on what’s true or factual in the world.  Your beliefs are formed from what you heard, observed, or have been taught.  The power of each belief comes only from the believer of that belief, and the strength of your belief depends on how strongly you believe it to be true.

Your Core Beliefs

You learned many of our core beliefs about yourself and what you could expect from the world during your childhood.  A core belief is something that you accepted without question at an early age.  Therefore, it continues to be reinforced by your observations and perceptions of your experiences.

From birth, you were programmed about money by your parents, siblings, friends, teachers, the media, religious leaders, social clubs and stratification of societies, nationality, race, language, dialects, and sex.  Your mind was like a little sponge accepting as truth practically everything you heard and observed from authority figures, and as adults, most people are not aware that their beliefs shape their lives.

For most people, their childhood programming about money was mostly negative; as a result, many people have come to believe at some very deep level that they are not “good enough” or they may not be “worthy”.  Your money beliefs can keep you locked in a mental prison of unhappiness and financial mediocrity.  Furthermore, your money beliefs dictate if you will be financial abundant or not because they create a filter which directs all of your decisions you make and actions you take which have a direct effect on the results you get in your life.

I call these types of beliefs, limiting beliefs.

Limiting beliefs are metal blocks stored in your subconscious mind that stops you from having the financial success you want and deserve in your life.  It may be something you do out of habit without thinking about it, or it may be a reason you have, where you say “I can’t be/do/have that because…”   Like many people, you may have acquired some very unhelpful, unsupportive beliefs over the years, especially around how deserving (or not) you believe you are of money and even about your health, weight, and your worthiness to have passionate, loving relationships.

Here are some examples of limiting beliefs:

Money doesn’t grow on trees!

Don’t waste your hard-earned money!

You can’t be rich and spiritual!

I can’t afford it!

Money is power!

Never mix business with pleasure!

Another day, another dollar!

It’s all in a day’s work!

You get what you pay for!

Why don’t you get a real job?

Save for a rainy day!

I will never have enough money!

I’ll probably just fail anyway!

Rich people are greedy and dishonest!

If I’m successful, my friends will be jealous and stop liking me!

I’ll get my reward in “heaven”!

I’m not smart enough to earn more money!

I have to work harder if I want to earn more money!

It takes money to make money!

Do any of these beliefs sound familiar to you?

The list of limiting money beliefs can continue to fill several pages because most people have hundreds or even thousands of limiting money beliefs which blocks the flow of financial abundance from flowing into their lives.  You may not know this yet, but your money beliefs are the blueprint for your financial results, and they will determine your level of financial prosperity you choose and are willing to accept into your life.  As I stated earlier, most people never do any critical thinking to investigate what they believe and why they believe it.  If they did, most would be surprised what they found.

Now, if you have limiting money beliefs in you subconscious mind, you can transform them into more positive beliefs, which then supports you in being the person who is living a financial prosperous life.

For example:

There is an infinite amount of wealth me to tap into, and it flows in my life constantly.

I can do what I love, and earn money doing it.

I can always afford whatever I desire or need.

Money is easy to earn.

I can be rich, and I can be Zen (spiritual).

Now, you are entitled to your beliefs, but let me ask you a question.  How have your beliefs about money been working out for you so far?

If you are not experiencing a life full of financial abundance and prosperity, then I invite you to examine your beliefs you hold about money.  Are you willing to give up old, non-supportive beliefs that do NOT serve you in order to live a financial prosperous life?

Uncovering Your Hidden Beliefs

To do this, you’re going to need to identify your hidden money beliefs and transform them.  Most people say, “If my beliefs are hidden, how do I know what they are?”

One method you can use to identify your hidden limiting beliefs about money is by looking at the difference between your desires and your current results.  For example, if you truly desire to have a new Cadillac, but you’re driving a 10 year old, beat up old Ford, then you have one or more limiting beliefs in your subconscious mind that blocks the Cadillac BMW from your life.

Action Item: Limiting Beliefs

To discover this belief or beliefs, perform the following exercise.  Get a sheet of paper and draw a vertical line down the center of the page to create two columns.  In the left column, write your desire.  In the right column, right the reason why you don’t have it.
For example:

What I Desire Why I Don’t Have It
2009 Cadillac STS I can’t afford that car. This is a car for a rich person, and I am not rich.I don’t deserve a car like this!

My parents will think I am wasting my money if I purchased this car.

My friends will think I am trying to be better than them.

Once you identify your limiting beliefs, you need to transform them into positive beliefs that will support you in HAVING your desires.  To transform your limiting beliefs can be as simple as deciding one day that a particular belief no longer serves you, and then choose a new belief to replace it.  For instance, for most of my adult life I held onto the hidden belief that rich people were bad.  Since I considered myself a good person, I made sure I wouldn’t become wealthy by sabotaging my actions to having an abundance of money in my life.  But when I really examined this belief, I found that some poor people behave badly too.  Therefore, I concluded that being bad didn’t have anything to do with the amount of money you have in your life.  Rather it is the attitudes of the people that determine their behavior, so I transformed this belief to rich people are great contributors because they provide a lot of value to the world.

Another limiting belief about money that I had was that it took hard work to make money.  After examining this belief, I concluded if hard work guaranteed financial success, then all construction workers would be wealthy.  After all, these people work really hard and long hours, but most of these workers are far from being wealthy.  If you are working hard and working long hours on your job, are you wealthy yet or are you still trapped in the “rat race”?   This limiting belief has been passed down from generation to generation, but do you see the fallacy in this belief?

Transforming your limiting beliefs can take some time and diligent effort, but it’s absolutely achievable.  I did it, and thousands of other people who living a financial prosperous life did it.  Now, the process of overcoming your limiting beliefs is like peeling off the layers of an onion.  As you peel off the layers, you will begin to manifest more and more of your desires.  The better you get at this, the more powerful your manifesting muscles will become.  And the more powerful you believe you are, the more your mind will open up to your greatness.

I invite you to make a commitment to do the exercise to uncover and transform your limiting money beliefs.  By doing this, you are well on your way transforming your mindset and living the life you truly desire.

If you would like to accelerate the transformation of your limiting beliefs, I invite you to check out The Belief Buster Kit, which shows you EXACTLY how to do this, with over 20 exercises and techniques to identify and clear limiting beliefs and create and install new empowering beliefs in their place.

As human beings, we all have the same basic desire for happiness; however, many people in the world are not achieving this basic desire.  In fact, most people are unfulfilled and feel as if life is just passing them by.  For some, they have come to a point in life where the question becomes something like, “Is this all there is to life?” and are seeking to transform what they are experiencing.

Some of these people turn to so-called motivation gurus, politicians, or religion to find answers that will end their suffering in life.  However, most people still do not find the answers because they are looking in the wrong place.  Many people believe that external situations and circumstances are the root of their unhappiness, but this is a fallacy.  What is causing people to suffering is they do not know who they are, and they do not understand that they create their experiences based on who they are BEing, their thoughts, their emotions, their beliefs, and how close they are in alignment with Source Energy (God).

Who Am I?

When confronted with the question, “who am I?”, most of us do not know how to answer it.  We inevitably answer by saying “I am …” followed by a descriptive label such a father, a doctor, a rich man, a clever man,  a smart woman, an American, a Republican, or a Christian.  Others will say that I am good looking, athletic, old or young or hard working, but what exactly are we referring to when we say “I”?

Are we a body? Are we a mind? Are we emotions? Are we consciousness?  Are we what we do?  Where do we draw the line between “I” and “my” and between who and what we are and what we have?  Many people believe they are their bodies; however, we are much more than that limited perception.  Although we are human beings, we consist of two parts - the human and the BEing.  The human part is our physical body which is just a vehicle for our BEing to experience this physical dimension; however, this is a small part of us.  The “BEing”, which is the “highest” part of us, includes our mind, emotions, thoughts, Will, and consciousness.

Many people are unaware of this concept and insist that they are their body.  If you are really your body, what happens to you when you lose your leg in an automobile accident?  Are you still you?  What if you lose both legs, both arms and become a quadriplegic amputee, are you still you?  Is your “I”, now lessened?  Are you less a person?  Have you lost any part of the real you?  Yes, you have a loss of physical function, but are you as a person, a character, a personality in any way lessened?  Is your Will lessened?  Is your consciousness lessened?  Is your mind and intelligence lessened?   By applying deductive reasoning, you will conclude that your sense of self and the essence of what and who you are remain unchanged.

Other people say they are their name, job title, nationality or mind, but are these labels really true?  Let’s examine this.  Throughout western society, it is customary for new brides to take the last name of their new husbands, but does this change the essence of who they are.  If Sally Jones changed her name to Sally Smith, did the essence of who she is change?  No, she remains unchanged.  Her body, memories, Will, consciousness, and essence of who she is, remains unchanged.  The same applies to labels of nationality and job titles.  I have a friend who was born and raised in the Philippines.  When she was twenty, she moved to America and eventually became a naturalized citizen.  She is now “an American citizen”.  Again, I ask the question, did the essence of who she is change?   No, she remains unchanged.  Her body, memories, Will, and consciousness, remains unchanged.

Well, what about your mind?  Are you your mind?  Many people do indeed think that they are their mind.  When a person says, I am my mind, I usually ask them to do a simple exercise.  I ask them to close their eyes and take a deep breathe.  As they slowly exhale, I ask them to stop all thinking and remain quiet.  I have them do this for about 45 seconds.  Then, I ask the person if they heard a voice in their head.  Everyone that I asked to do this exercise say the same answer -”yes”.   I reconfirm the answer by repeating the question a second time.  Again, the person usually answers “yes”.  Next I asked the following: “if you heard a voice, who was listening to the voice, and who was speaking?”  Most people are unusually baffled and stated that “I was listening, and my mind was speaking”.  Does this not show a clear distinction between you and your mind?  There is that which possesses: “I” and that which is possessed: “mind”.   Furthermore, when you tried to control your mind by stop thinking, your mind continued to generate thoughts (chatter) almost as if they were wild horses.  So there is a “controller”, and there is that which is controlled which further indicate two separate entities.  So, in a stringent analysis, “I” is not your mind.  You have a mind, but you are not your mind.

If you are not our name, job title, nationality, or mind, who are you?  The Yogic teachings explain that we are made up of five different energy layers or koshas, also called sheaths.  The outermost is the Physical body.  Inside that is our Breath layer, through which flows the universal life-force energy or prana.  The next layer is the Mind, which is our consciousness, and further inside we discover our Intellect, which serves the function of discrimination. The final sheath is our Bliss body which is the domain of Spirit, the collective consciousness, and the place where we find our Soul.

Our Soul, sometimes referred to as the True Self or Higher Self, is pure Spirit and is a luminous ray of light from Source Energy (God).  The Higher Self is our inner core that has awareness, and it is the center that observes.   It is eternal, and is the part of us that consist of pure consciousness and connects us directly to the Source Energy (God).  It is the big “I” inside us; the “I” that is the true “I am”; the “I” that is God.  Our Higher Self is not only limited to our present incarnation, but it as access to all our lifetimes, past, present and future.  It spans dimensions, time and space.

In the late-eighties, there was a popular movie entitled “Cocoon”.  The aliens in the movie were just glowing bundles of serene white light (energy).  When trying to envision the energetic bodies that the ancient yogis were describing, it reminds me of this movie.  Unfortunately, we rarely think of ourselves in this way.   But we are an aspect of Source Energy (God); not God in the monotheistic, religious sense, but God as the Ultimate Consciousness, the great field of pure potentiality from which all things arise who has chosen to come to this physical space / time dimension for the purpose of experiencing the variety that surrounds us and to create our reality for expansion of our souls.

Furthermore, we are each here to awaken a hidden part of ourselves, which naturally wants to explore the Universe and experience how amazing life is.  We were all given the power of co-creation so we can celebrate our spiritual existence through an out-flowing of our infinite creative cosmic energy.  Therefore, we are the creators of our experiences, and we are the experiencers of that which we create.  Creating our experiences is the most natural creative expression of our innate power.  According to Dr. Joseph Murphy, founder of the Church of Divine Science, we are here to discover our true place in life, and to give of our talents to the world.  We are here to expand and unfold in a wonderful way, according to a God-given potential, and to bring forth spiritual, mental, and material riches, which will bless humanity in countless ways.

If this true, why do most people create limited experiences that is based in lack such as ill-health, bad relationships, and poverty which cause them to suffer?  It occurs because they are being controlled by their minds, and they have not connected to their Higher Self which is the source of intuitive knowledge and guidance.  Furthermore, most people are unaware that they are the creator of their experiences.  Instead, most people go through life thinking that life just happens, and they are basically at the mercy of random events, luck, fate, karma, or circumstances and they believe they are powerless human beings who have little influence over what they experience in life.  As a result, many people feel trapped in a reality that keep them feeling unfulfilled, unhappy, and experiencing suffering.  However, this is just an illusion because we have been endowed with Will which is our ability to decide, to choose, and to determine.  Will is our power to move energy, move things, manifest our desires, and create who we are BEing.  By using our Will, we can change our realities because they are nothing more than illusions that are based on our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, attitudes, opinions, and points of views, and this change begins by renewing our mind.

In the Christian Bible, Apostle Paul stated “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind….” (Romans 12:2) which means we must remove all negative thoughts, limiting beliefs, opinions, emotional trauma, and negative memories that is trapped in our mind.  Our mind is our greatest ally or our greatest enemy, depending on whether we control it or it controls us.  What is going on in our lives is a reflection of what is going on in our mind.  Our mind is a major determinant of our experiences, and our happiness or pain in our lives.  To resolve our problems and conflicts in life, we must first resolve the turbulence in our mind and remove the negative energy that causes the illusion of separateness and become our Higher Self.  By accomplishing this, we will be in alignment with Source Energy (God) and our good will flow to us.

What if you lost your job, your house is being foreclosed, your creditors are closing in, and your marriage had become a hellishly nightmare?  No, that is not make-believe story, but it the actual life of some people today.  If you are experiencing these circumstances, here are eight tips you can use to maintain a positive outlook under your stressful circumstances.

1.  Start by finding things for which to be grateful for in your life.  Gratitude is very crucial to your happiness and peace of mind because when you are grateful, you see the world differently.  Most people tend to see the “bad” things that happen in their lives, but most overlook the “good” things.  What a pity.  Open your eyes and be aware of those good things you experience.

As you are begin to be grateful, you will realize that your life is wonderful, and you will feel joy despite your current circumstances.  So, if you are reading this article, realize that you are alive, and your mind is functioning fairly well.  Therefore, be grateful.

What else are you grateful for in your live in this moment?  Write a gratitude list, and give thanks for everything that is good in your life.  Start with being alive, breathing, and thinking, and add every blessing that comes to your mind no matter have small to your list.  Remember, every moment of life is a blessing, every bite of food you taste, every bird you see, every sound you hear, and every kiss from your primary partner (spouse).  Even small things matter.  If someone calls you a friend, that’s something you should be grateful for.  If a child smiles to you, it should remind you that hope is always here in this world.

2. Take it one step further, and write all the good things that happen in your life in a “good things” journal, especially those which impress you and make you feel joyful. When life looks dark and it is difficult for you to be grateful, open and read your journal. You will soon realize the wonderful life you have, and you will get new strength to overcome your problems.

3.  Give thanks for the life lessons that you are learning.  Although it may not be aware of it at this time, every thing that is occurring in your life is for your highest good because there are positive things behind all the “bad” things that happen.  This might be difficult for some people to accept, but I firmly believe it.  At the very least, “bad” things give you valuable lessons you should be grateful for. When you have a mindset that is based in gratitude, it’s not difficult to see the “good” things you could get out of “bad” circumstances.  This way you will always have reasons to be grateful.

Remember, when you have a “bad” circumstance or what I call a breakdown in life (i.e. lost of job), there something better coming.  Therefore, make a list of what you have learned from your current breakdowns.  Write it out, and be grateful for each lesson.  Life’s lessons appear to often come at great cost, but actually they are priceless jewels that are required for your growth.

In 2002, I had a major breakdown when I was unemployed, and I lost nearly all the money in my stock portfolio, but I would not change those circumstances because those breakdowns caused me to embark on a journey that has totally changed my life.  As a result, my marriage is stronger, my relationship with my kids is better, my finances are better, my consciousness has expanded, and my spiritual connection to all that IS has expanded.

4.  Do you have a support system of friends and family you can confide in about how you are feeling?  If you do, be very grateful, and use that network of people  now.  Do not feel embarrassed to seek emotional support from those you respect and love.  If you don’t feel you have a support network, find one in your church or community.

Furthermore, associate with positive people.  You will be like the people you associate with most of the time.  It is difficult for most people to be positive if the people they meet through out the day are focusing on negativity or discussing negative events.  Therefore, surround yourself with positive people who themselves are grateful and positive , and it will be much easier and natural for you to be a grateful and positive.

5.  Care for your mind and body with special attention and gentleness in this time of change.  Several times each day, take a moment to breathe deeply and center yourself.  Do this by closing your eyes and taking three deep breaths. Exhale each breath three times as long as you inhale to relax you mind and body.

Eat healthy and be aware of stressful eating.  Do light exercises and drink plenty of water throughout the day.  Also, get enough sleep to rejuvenate your body.  If you have trouble sleeping, take a hot shower and listen to some soft relaxing  / meditative music.

6.  Begin each day with a silent walk.  Awaken a half hour earlier to make time for it.  While a walk in a natural setting such as a park or on the ocean shore is ideal, a walk on city streets will suffice.  As you are walking, thoughts, angers, resentments, and fears may form in your mind.  That “mind chatter” is always with us whenever we are not focused on a specific mental activity and it gets much stronger when we are stressed.  Neither resent the mind chatter, nor let it linger.  Say “thank you for sharing” to each passing thought, anger, resentment, or fear.  Then release it, and return to your silent walk.

7.  Release your angers, resentments, and fears by feeding them to a cleansing fire.  Do this by lighting a candle that is placed in an aluminum pan or by starting a small fire in a metal bucket.  Write one issue, concern, or fear on a piece of paper, and put it in to the flame of the candle or in the fire in the metal bucket.  As the paper begins to burn, release your anger, concern or fears to God.  Repeat this process until you can no longer feel the emotion about the concern or fear that you were experiencing.  Give thanks for this release.

I know this may sound like hocus pocus, but his process is effective.

Warning, do this activity outside and be careful not to start an uncontrollable fire.  Have a bottle of water or a fire extinguisher near by to extinguish any small uncontrollable fire if it occurs.

8. Do NOT watch the news or read newspapers because they will infect your mind with negativity and cause you to worry or experience fear. If you want to watch television, watch comedy movies that make you laugh. See my post, Eliminating Negativity from Your Life. Furthermore, read books on personal development to strengthen your self-esteem or listen to upbeat music with POSITIVE lyrics.

These eight tips can help you cope with your circumstances and help you keep a positive outlook in life. However, it’s up to you to decide whether or not you want to experience joy each day and have a positive outlook on life. If you decide to use these tips, each day will be better than the last day. No matter what happens to you, it is still you who decide how you will respond to your breakdowns. So make the decision to be a positive person, and may your days be filled with joy, hope, and inner peace!

It is estimated that ninety-five percent of people work in jobs or careers that bring them no satisfaction, fulfillment, or enjoyment.  Instead, most people work from a sense of obligation for paying the bills, from fear of not being able keeping up with the “Jones”, or from a sense of guilt from family members to want them to work in certain occupations.  If you are in this ninety-five group of people, I have some advice to help you gain reignite the passion in your life.

Are you ready for it?

Do what you love, and you never work a day in your life again!

Many “smart” people espoused similar viewpoints about my advice that I offer to you.

Here are a few:

  • “Find a job you love, and you will never have to work again.”  ~ Confucius
  • “Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it.”  ~ Buddha
  • “Find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” ~ Harvey Mackay
  • “Do what you love to do and give it your very best. Whether it’s business or baseball, or the theater, or any field. If you don’t love what you’re doing and you can’t give it your best, get out of it.  Life is too short. You’ll be an old person before you know it.”  ~ Al Lopez
  • “Do what you love and the money will follow.”  ~ Marsha Sinetar
  • “Do what you love and the necessary resources will follow.”  ~ Peter McWilliams
  • “Love What You Do; Do What You Love”  ~ Napoleon Hill

I truly believe this axiom so much that I have been following it since 2006, and it has really changed my life.  Although I earning a six-figure annual salary, I was stuck in a job that I no longer enjoyed.  I felt stuck because I believed that it was impossible to do what I love and earn the same level of income.

Most people that I asked the question, “do you enjoy what they are doing”, I get the usual answer -NO!  Many of them have the same belief that they can’t replace their present income doing what they enjoy.  Well if you can dream it and believe it, then you can be it, do it and have it.  You do not have to believe a word I have written here, but I know you can do it because you don’t have to struggle to earn money.

When you are earning money doing what you are passionate about, work is fun, and you are much happier.  I have discovered that the happiest people are those who are living their dream-getting paid to do what they love.  Look at Oprah or Brett Favre.

So, are you a member of the ninety-five percent?

Are you energized to start your day when you wake up in the morning?  Do you jump out of bed on Monday mornings eager to start your work?  Do you look forward to Monday as Saturday?

Do you feel fulfilled the way you earn money?  Are you living your best possible life?  If not, it might be time to light a fire and start doing what you love.

Believe it or not, this really IS possible!

Every day, you have a choice– a choice to be happy and fulfilled or ambivalent in your life.  You are the only person who is responsible for making sure you are living a happy, fulfilled, enjoyable life.  Only you can figure out what you are passionate about, and only you can decide to go for it or continue to struggle.

When you are passionate about what you are doing to earn money, problems are seen as possibilities and obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow.  When you doing work in a job or your business that doesn’t fulfill you or isn’t enjoyable, you are you are draining yourself of precious life energy, and earning money will be a struggle.

Why?  Well when you do not enjoy what you are doing, you are focusing on those feelings of being unfulfilled and unsatisfied with your job.  As a result, you are broadcasting these vibrations to the Universe and this will attract back more of the same to you.  Therefore, you will attract people, circumstances, and events that will cause you to feel unhappy and unfulfilled while doing your job.

So, the only thing standing between you and a life filled with overflowing joy and happiness is you.

To do what you love, use the following strategies:

1. Commit Yourself to Doing What You Love

Right now is your moment of power.  Make a decision to enjoy life to its fullest; therefore, commit to being a participant in your life and not an observer.  Commit yourself to the process of discovering and doing what you love.  And know that the money will follow.

2. Find What You Enjoy

Many people believe that your strengths are the KEY to your financial success; however, this is one the biggest mistake most people make when discovering what they enjoy doing.  Just because you are good at an activity doesn’t guarantee you will enjoy it.  If your strengths are not in alignment with what you enjoy doing, I believe you should subordinate them and do what you are passionate about.  For example, I am really good with math and science, so I attended college and got a Bachelor and a Masters degree in Engineering.  However, after working in that profession for a while and really examining what I wanted out of life, I discovered I did not enjoy it.  I realized I was only doing because I was good at it, and I was being paid “well”.

Therefore, I made a decision to change my career by releasing my job that I no longer enjoyed and follow my passion.  Now I am doing what I really enjoy.

Now it is your turn.  So, make a list of all the things you enjoy doing.  When you run out of ideas, leave the list and come back to it every day for a week.  During this time, notice when you are doing something or thinking about doing an activity you enjoy.

Is it riding your bike on Saturday mornings, spending time boating and fishing on the weekends, or working in your garden in the evenings?  The answer is different for each of us.

Think deeply, and write down what excites you most, or even better, if money wasn’t an issue, what would do with your time.

3. Ask Other People

If you are unsure what you really enjoy, ask people who have known you for a few years what they think you are passionate about.  Ask family members and other people that have known you for many years what they remember you being passionate about years ago.

I remember talking to a family member, and she no longer enjoyed her job.  I asked her what she really enjoyed doing.  Like most people, she had no clue; however, I noticed that she always had a video camera with her at family functions.

When she talked about video production and editing, I could hear the passion in her voice.  She was like a kid discussing a new bike he was getting for Christmas.  I suggested that she pursue this career path on a part-time basis until she could completely replace her current income from her job.  She took my advice, and she has started a video production company.  She is getting rave reviewed from her videos, and the money is flowing to her.  Even more important, she is happy, and she really loves her work so much that she has made plans to do it full-time.

4. Identify Passionate People

Make a list of five people you are acquainted with personally that you believe is doing what they love.  Talk with them, and ask them how they went about doing what they love.

As an alternative, you can associate with other people who do what you enjoy.  Associating with like-minded people will engender ideas for you.  If you love art and crafts, start attending art and craft shows and classes; meet with artists, visit art and craft stores, and join on-line forums that focus on arts and crafts.  Meet and observe others who spend their days doing art and crafts.  If you love to work with computers, start to meet and hang around with similar people.  Subscribe to computer publications, talk to computer engineers, software developers, and business owners who built / or repair computers all day.  Learn what they do, how they do it, and why they do it.

You will get new ideas that you can use to transition to doing what you enjoy and the way you want to do it!

5. Try New Things

Make a list of all the things you would like to do.  Add to the list every day.  Once a week, for eight weeks, do something new.  When you try new activities, you will have new experiences which could lead you to discovering some new passions in the process.  Furthermore, you will get your creative juices going, and you may see life from a new perspective.

6.  Imagine your life

Start to imagine what your life would be like if you spent the majority of your day doing what you love.  What a concept, and the amazing thing about this concept is that it is possible.  Most people can’t imagine this because they do not believe it is possible to support their families financially doing what they love.  Sadly, most people remain stuck in a job or career doing what they don’t enjoy.  Even worst, most people (95%) retire broke dependent on the government, family members, or charities for their basic financial necessities.

7. Get Into Action

When you find what you enjoy doing, the only thing left to do is to get going.  Start small with little steps and as momentum builds, you will soon discover that the money will begin to flow to you.

From this day forward, commit yourself to earn money doing what you enjoy.  Set goals and build a roadmap to achieving it.  You have to know where you are going, but you do not have to know how to get there.  Don’t ask yourself how because that isn’t important.  What is important is that you decide today that you will claim your life and start moving in the general direction of where you want to be.  Start opening your mind to the possibility of doing what you really enjoy.

When you are doing things you enjoy, earning money will get easier, and you will see everyday as a blessing.  Before long you will be telling yourself what a fool you have been not doing what you love.  Life will be fun, and full with joy.  Start living the blessed life, and take ownership and responsibility for it.  You are 100% accountable for your life. So, claim it NOW!

As you begin this new lifestyle, watch closely and notice the difference.  You will find life to be more fun, enjoyable, fulfilling, and filled with more laughter.

In the pass three years or so, there has been a lot of discussion about the Law of Attraction.  This discussion all began with the movie, “The Secret” which introduced to the mass consciousness the concept that our thoughts create our lives.  The Law of Attraction (LOA) states that you attract to yourself what you think about and focus on whether you want it or not.  In the end, many people began to believe if they changed their thoughts to what they want, it will suddenly appear.

Well, many people are discovering that the LOA doesn’t really work that easily.  Although many people have put a lot of effort into changing their thoughts to what they want, many people say they are unable to manifest the results they want.  Well, if you are experiencing problems with the LOA, let me just say this law is working because it works all the time.  Just as you can not turn off the Law of Gravity, you can turn off the Law of Attraction.  I know many people who are very skeptical and do not accept the validity of the LOA, but it not my intent to convince anyone about it.   However, if you have been deliberately using the LOA, and you have been unable to manifest what you want, then this information may be very applicable for you.

I having been using the LOA to deliberately manifest what I want for over eight years, and I teach this law and other universal laws to anyone who is opened-minded and seeking the path to prosperous living.  Over the years, I have noticed that many people are making the same common mistakes using the Law of Attraction to manifest what they want, and I will discuss some of them in this article.

~ Not Clear About Why You Want It

When I asked most people what they wanted, they usually say things such as “I want more money.”  “I want to be physically fit.”  “I want to be happy. “  Or “I want to be sexy.”  Yet most people who say these things are out of shape, broke, or unhappy.  Why is this occurring?  Because they haven’t discovered the true reason why they want what they say they want.  As a result, they continually attract more of what they don’t want.  Most people who are using the LOA intentionally are trying to prove, show or demonstrate something, or they are trying not to be something.  However, you can only attract who you are being.

If you want fame, success, or financial abundance so you can prove to the world that you are good enough, then your subconscious mind is clear that you aren’t good enough.  Otherwise you won’t have to prove it.  If you want success and happiness so you can prove to the world, to your family, or to yourself that you are smart, then your subconscious mind is clear that you aren’t smart.  Otherwise, you wouldn’t have to prove it.  If you are clear that you aren’t good enough, you aren’t smart, or whatever, then you will attract circumstances and situations that will make it obvious that you are being that.

I know this may be different that what you read or heard about the LOA, but this the brutal truth.

Therefore, you must get crystal clear on what you want and clear on why you want it.  Do you want to be financially free?  What about having a loving relationship with your primary partner who really loves and supports you?  What about doing work that you instead of doing work just to pay the bills?  All of these things and more are possible, but you need to know why you truly want it and get yourself aligned with what you want.  You can have these things and experiences because manifesting is our innate ability, but many people are getting what they don’t want instead of what they do want.

For whatever you want, just ask the question, “What will that mean when I get it?”  Keep asking this question over and over again until you uncover the real reason why you want it.

When you discover the real reason, you can change it if it is in conflict with what you want.

~ Your Beliefs Conflict with What You Want

If your beliefs are in conflict with what you want, this is a killer of your manifestations.  Although you consciously want something, it is not in alignment with it with what you believe subconsciously.  In fact, if your belief is in conflict with what you want, you have what I call a limiting belief.  A limiting belief is a mental block or resistance stored in your subconscious mind, which limits or blocks your ability to manifest what you want.   For example, if you say

I want to be a super model, but I believe that I not good enough,

or

I want the love of my life, but I believe I am are ugly,

or

I want respect from my employer, but I believe I am stupid and worthless.

or

I want to be physically fit, but I hate myself, then you will manifest more of what you don’t want.  In this case, just the opposite of what you say you want.

And no matter how much you visualize or repeat affirmations, you will not manifest what you want because you still have this underlying limiting belief in your subconscious mind that is attracting exactly what you don’t want.  Therefore, you are always getting exactly what you subconsciously believe.  Have you notice you keep asking for this or that, but you are getting the opposite of what you want?    Well, your wanting and your belief are conflicting.

The universe functions as a GIANT MIRROR reflecting to you an exact MATCH to your deeply held beliefs.

So many times I have seen this happen to people.  Recently, I was speaking with a friend who was employed as a senior manager in her company.  She said she wanted to be promoted to general manager in her company for the past two years, but the promotion was not coming.  After speaking with her, I discovered that she is a very good employee, and her management thinks very highly of her ability and her work ethics.  Then I asked her why she believed she wasn’t being promoted to a vice president.  She said, she believes it was because she was a minority.  Do you she the conflict with what she wants and what she believes?  She wants to be general manger, but she believes she will not be promoted because she is a minority.  This is a limiting belief, and it is repelling the promotion she wants.  I went a step further and discovered why she wanted to be a general manger which was to prove she was as good as the “white people” in her company.  Her conscious desire to be general manager was in conflict with her belief that she was not as good as the “white people” in her company

Please understand this, when your wanting and believing in conflict, I can guarantee you that the LOA will not work for the wanting.  Instead it will attract what you believe.  In my friend’s case, she was not being promoted even though she worked hard, volunteered for extra projects, came in first and left last.  None of that matter because her wanting and believing were conflicting.  Once she changed this limiting belief and gave up her wanting to prove she was as good, she manifested her promotion to general manger in less than a year.   So, examine your beliefs, and give them up if they are limiting your ability to manifest the results you want.

~ You Are Playing the Victim Game

Another critical mistake people make when using the Law of Attraction is to play the victim game.  What is the victim game you ask?  It goes like this, someday when I, then I will…   For example, someday when I have the money, then I going to be happy, or someday when I get everything together, then I going to have the time to spend with my kids.

Playing the victim game makes you a victim, and it is the wrong approach for manifesting what you want because you are making a bold statement to the universe that NOW is not enough, and it is not PERFECT.  Therefore, I am not grateful for what I have in my life.   When you feel and act in this matter, you will attract more circumstances and situations to cause you to get the results you don’t want.

You must recognize that where you are is the perfect place, but most people decide on what they want and then they instantly make where they are wrong.  Many people are ungrateful for what they have now, but they believe they will be grateful when they get what they want.   Some victims even complain about what they have now.  But did you know that complaining about what you don’t want is asking for what you do want.

Complaining is asking!

Bitching is asking!

Worrying about what you don’t want is asking!

Why, because the universe is always a yes.  So, when you say, I don’t want it, the universe says, give it to him or her.  And the more you complain or worry about what you have or what don’t want, the more you will get it.  If you are playing the victim game, it is crucial that you give it up and be grateful for where you are and what you have NOW.

~ People Change Their Routine Prematurely

When some people make an intention to manifest something deliberately by using the LOA, they immediate make a drastic change in their lives.  For example, if you wanted a new car, you would go into debt to purchase the car, or if you wanted start a new business, you would quit your current job.  This is a critical mistake many people make.  Unless you have the income to make the car payments or the money to provide for your needs while you are starting your new business, continue what you are doing.

If you abruptly change your life, your Ego mind will go into survival mode which will cause you to worry about money.  You will begin to have doubt about your ability with the LOA, and you will begin to focus on a lack of money.  Remember, what you focus on will expand, so keep doing what you are already doing.  As you do, you will begin to notice the right people, circumstances, and situations showing up to assist with manifesting what you want.  When they do, take action.

~ You Try To Figure Out The How

How? How? How?  The moment you declare your intention that you want to be in a loving relationship, purchase a new house, or whatever you want, your analytical mind starts going crazy trying to figure it out to accomplish it.  Stop!

You must learn how to relax and listen to the “small voice within” and let the right information come to you.  You must know and trust that what you want is coming.  Detach from the HOW.  There is a Vietnamese proverb that I learned from one of my mentors — “PHUCKHOW”.   Say it slowly, and you will get the meaning.

Trying to figure out how it’s all going to happen, repels what you want because you are forcing the manifestation process.  The how of your new result will come to you when you are relaxed or as a moment of intuitive guidance when your mind has slowed down such as while you are sleeping or meditating.

~  You Keep Your Intention A Secret

Many people make the mistake of declaring an intention to manifest something and then they keep it to themselves.  This usually occurs because you are embarrassed, or you believe the people you tell may ridicule you or think you are a dreamer.  Or it may stem from comments you heard from your parents during your childhood such as you were told not to brag or boast about what you are doing.

If you want to speed up your manifestation, you have to get over that survival mechanism because all manifestations include other people.  Therefore, you have to learn to get beyond your fears and share what you want.

I know many people who teach the Law of Attraction believe that you should not tell everyone about your intention.  I differ with this belief because every person you meet is apart of the universe.  When you tell them, it’s like you are strengthening your intention because you are telling the universe what it is that you want.

So, do not discount the importance of the people you meet day to day.  Many times you run across people, and you immediately judge them as to how they would fit into your world.  Everyone you meet is there on purpose.  Anyone you make eye contact with in the store, at the mall, at a restaurant, or wherever, I promise you if you would follow that lead and connect to that person, magic will began to happen in ways you can never expect.  I truly believe that Source (God) keeps sending you the right people at the right time over and over again to help you manifest what you want.

Have you ever heard that there six-degrees of separation from any person on the planet.  Actually, I believe it is 2 or 3 degrees of separation to most people on the planet.  Remember, you do not know if a person you meet knows the right person that can help manifest what you want, so tell everyone, but do it in a way that is coming from contribution.

For example, if you are a real estate agent, and you intend to sell 3 houses to make $20,000 this month, don’t say that.  Instead say something like, I am a real estate agent, and I am committed to helping 3 families sell their homes, so they can avoid foreclosure.

 ~ You Look For Evidence

When many people declare an intention, they make the mistake of wanting it to happen on their timetable.  This is another big killer for deliberately manifesting for many people because they begin to look for evidence that what they want is coming.  As the date they set approaches, they begin to have doubt if it will work, and they begin focusing on what might be wrong.

Remember, there is a season to sow and a season to reap and they both don’t occur at the same time.  The universe knows what is required to manifest what you want, and must align the events, circumstances, and people to make it occur.  Therefore, when you set your intention, you must let Go, and Let Source (God).  If you are not making any other mistakes I mentioned in this article, just relax and enjoy the situation even when it is not what you think it should be, or you don’t see any evidence of it manifesting.  Practice gratitude, appreciation, and acknowledgement and trust that what you want is coming to you.  Once you give up your resistance, the things you want will manifest.  It is your stress, fear, doubt, anxiety, anger, resent, guilt, frustration, and overwhelm that is stopping you from manifesting what you want.   These are the weapons your Ego mind uses to guide you away getting what you want.

This reminds me of one of my mentors, James Ray, who set an intention to appear on the Oprah show in the early 1990’s to discuss the concept of the Law of Attraction.  It took nearly fifteen years before that intention manifested.  He realized that it took that long because he was not ready for prime time television and the mass consciousness of the people was not ready for this type of information.  However, he did not give up on his intention.  Instead he continued to study and improve his public speaking abilities; even though, he did not see evidence of it happening.

But what most people do when they don’t see evidence of their intentions manifesting-they panic.  When you panic, you bring into your life what you are panicking about.  You are broadcasting a message to the universe, “I don’t’ want that”.  And guess what?  You delay or cancel your intention, and you don’t get what you want.

You have to learn to get in a place where you trust that all is well.  If a situation appears to be disastrous, you must know that something good is going to come from this situation.  For example, if you intending to manifest a better job and you get fired or laid-off from your current job, accept it.  And know when one door closes, the universe opens a new one because disaster, chaos, and destruction is the beginning of creation.

You can’t manifest amazing things without being able to withstand some disaster, chaos, and destruction.  They are critically connected which mean you got to be able to stay out of a panic state.  If you don’t, the LOA is not going to bring you what you want.  Instead, it will bring you more of what you don’t want.

~  You Are Not Opened to All Possibilities

Many people have a tendency to discount the results they manifest if it doesn’t look the way they thought it would occur.   What you want will manifest if you do not make the mistakes mentioned in this article; however, it may not look the way you think it should, but it is always better.  For example, I had an intention to receive $100,000 in my bank account within 60 days.  Well, on day 65, I received a letter from my bank stating that I was pre-approved for a $100,000 unsecured loan.  All I had to do was sign the loan papers, and the money would be deposited into my bank account within 72 hours.

Now many people would discount this as a manifestation because they did not want a loan.  They wanted the cash free and clear.   Well that would be a critical mistake because I did get the money, and I used it for an investment that earned over 40 percent within six months.  Remember, your intention usually comes in a way that is better than you imagined, so be opened to all possibilities.

~  You Are Obsessed With What You Want

When you get obsessed with manifesting what you want, you are fixating on what you don’t have in your life.  As you do this, you are shouting a message to the universe, “I don’t have what I want!”  The main reason you are attached to the outcome of what you are intending to manifest is due to doubt and a lack of trust in your manifesting ability.

The thing to do is relax and be peaceful and know that what you want is coming to you now.  You must recognize the ebb and flow of what you want to manifest.  If you want to manifest more money, a new relationship, or anything else, don’t obsess about.  Just remain grateful, and know that it is coming to you now.  Otherwise, your attachment will surely repel it away.

~ You Are Not Taking Action

Another big killer of your manifestations is not taking action.  Many people that when they deliberately use the Law of Attract, they believe that what they want will appear without any action.  This is a fallacy.  Action is required.  Not ordinary action such as getting a second job or working longer hours to earn or money, but is about taking inspired actions.

After you declare an intention, you may receive intuitive message which is sent by Source to direct you to take action that will assist with your manifestation.  These intuitive messages can come as psychic impressions, gut feelings, hunches, inspiration, revelations, premonitions, insight, inner voice, or vibes.

For example, you may have an intention to be a loving relationship with a person who loves and supports you and who you will marry.  Perhaps while driving home from your job, you get a gut feeling to stop pass your local grocery market to purchase some avocados.

Take action and follow your gut feelings.

Why, because Source (God) may have orchestrated events so you will run into a friend from your old neighborhood who introduces you to the person who is to become your spouse.  You discover the intuitive message was not about purchasing avocados after all; it was nudging you to take action and go to the market so you could meet the person you would ultimately marry.

This is not a fairy tale because that’s how one of my friends met his wife.  If he wouldn’t have taken action to go to the market, he would have delayed or even canceled his manifestation.

Conclusion

Well, these are critical mistakes that many people make with the Law of Attraction.  If you would like to manifest what you want, avoid these mistakes.  If you do, what you want will manifest for you.

Namaste,
