How Are You Choosing

“The greatest power that a person possesses is the power to choose.”  ~ J. Martin Kohe

The Choice…

When you awaken first thing in the morning, you can immediately decide, it’s going to be a great day, or you can decide that it’s not.

As you drive to work and the car next to you suddenly cuts you off, you can choose to respond with understanding, or you can choose to respond with anger.

When you arrive at work and your manager says he/she is assigning you to a new department, you can choose to be excited about the opportunity or fearful of the change.

After your morning meeting, you can choose to call your spouse, and say “I love you”, or you can decide it’s not important.

Later in the day, when you are asked to lunch by the new guy from another department, you can choose to make a new friend and go or be small and kindly decline.

Before you leave for the day, you receive an email from the HR department about giving to an annual charity campaign. You can choose to give freely or hold on tightly.

When you get home and your child asks you to throw the football with him, you can choose to join in the fun or refuse.

At dinner, when the dog jumps on your lap again, you can choose to exercise patience and calmly let the dog outside, or you can yell at you son to show your frustration and anger for not putting the dog in the backyard.

After dinner, your daughter brings in her math test where she earned a “B”.  You can choose to praise her effort or tear her down by asking why she didn’t get an “A”.

When you go to relax in the evening, you can choose to watch the news and get bombarded with negativity, or you can make the choice not to watch it.

At bedtime, as you turn off the light, you can choose to tell God five to ten things you are grateful for experiencing today, or you can keep quiet.

So, what kind of day would it be if you chose the former in all cases?

What type of day would it be if you decide on the latter in all situations?

In these situations, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to choose, but there are consequences for you choices.

One of the hidden secrets of life is to know that the results (level of prosperity) in your life are a product of the choices you make each moment throughout your day.  Each day you make hundreds if not thousands of choices.  You can make a conscious choice for happiness, love, kindness, peace, generosity or financial abundance to name a few.  Or you just as easily can opt for smallness, fear, anger, mediocrity, resentment, bitterness, jealousy, or hatred.

So, how have you been choosing?  Are you choices allowing you to living a prosperous life where you have peace and joy?  If not, you can begin choosing differently starting NOW.

The choice is your…
